THE ECONOMY AND IT'S IMPACT ON TRUCK DRIVING JOBS:

The economic slowdown has had an impact on trucking jobs. Across the board - freight is down, companies of all sizes are cutting back, driver turnover is down and the climate for jobs driving trucks is unlike anything we've seen in recent years. That said, opportunities remain for qualified drivers with recent experience.

As of 12/10/08 Here's an overview of what I have:

* NO OPENINGS FOR STUDENTS TO OBTAIN A CDL.

* NO OPENINGS FOR RECENT GRADS OR ANY DRIVER WHO DOESN'T HAVE A MINIMUM OF 3 MONTHS OTR EXPERIENCE IN THE LAST 12 MONTHS. 

* I HAVE OPENINGS IN MOST AREAS EAST OF I-35  AND MOST LARGE METRO AREAS WEST OF 1-35 FOR DRIVERS WITH A MINIMUM OF 3 MONTHS SOLO OVER THE ROAD EXPERIENCE AND A GOOD WORK AND DRIVING HISTORY. 

* I HAVE SEVERAL OPENINGS FOR OWNER OPERATORS - I WILL PLACE YOU WITH A COMPANY THAT HAS FREIGHT TO HAUL.

* I WILL HAVE LEASE TRUCKS AVAILABLE IN ALL 48 STATES AFTER JANUARY 1, 2009. (requires minimum 12 months over the road experience in the prior 36 months) BOTH SOLO AND TEAM TRUCKS WILL BE AVAILABLE (Lease Trucks).  THERE IS CURRENTLY A WAITING LIST AND I DONT EXPECT OPEN TRUCKS UNTIL JANUARY 09.

The job market is different than any time in recent memory and companies are being VERY selective in hiring (Minimum Qualifications).
